Is it 100% Secure?
First, there is no such thing as 100% secure (computers are built by -and then used by- us fallible humans after all).
There is such thing as “reasonable precautions” and that’s what we use here.
What do we use?
We use a Password Manager (no, we don’t specify here -for your and our- security). Only myself and you (and whomever you’ve shared the master account password with, you naughty thing) can access it. And… I get a bit crazy on my end and create a new account for EACH of my clients so one client can never see the credentials of another. Call me paranoid – I take it as a compliment.
Okay. So how do I get you access to all my accounts?
First, DO NOT GIVE ME YOUR CREDENTIALS. You will create a secondary user (often called a ‘developer’ or ‘manager’) and give me those. Most of my recommended providers offer this feature.
The list of provider with instructions is at the bottom. Click to be taken to it now.
What happens when we stop working together?
I will use that account to make a copy of our work to date (site files, logos, etc) and share a download link with you.
You should then immediately log in and either Change the Passwords or Delete the Users.
I delete all instances of your accounts on my end after 61 days (or one day after your included support ends).
Can I use a Password Manager too?
Of course you can! And you can import our password data into it.
You’ll need to export the list and import into your chosen Manager. I give you instructions on how to export it from ours. You can keep it as an ⚠️ unsecured .csv file while you change the passwords and then upload it to a Password Manager of your own. (I like BitWarden and LastPass. 1Password, KeePassXC, and Dashlane are solid contenders too.)
The List
These are providers my clients have used in the past; sometimes they keep them, sometimes they move to another. They are not endorsements*.
I try to keep this list updated. Let me know if you find a better link!
*You can find a list of the products + services we currently use here.
